Bio

Cynthia Romanowski is a disabled interdisciplinary artist (writing, drawing and performance prose). She holds an MFA in fiction from UCR’s low res program in Palm Desert. Her fiction, articles, and essays have appeared in Coast MagazineThe Weekly Rumpus, The Nervous Breakdown, Angel’s Flight Literary West and on the podcast No Extra Words. She has been featured reader for Dirty Laundry Lit and Tongue & Groove and has been a producer of literary events in Orange County including volunteer work for Boco De Oro (OC’s annual literary festival).

In 2013, her story “Santa Ana” was a Top 25 finalist in Glimmer Train’s “Family Matters” contest and her story “Torches In The Ashtray” was selected for the annual Emerging Voices Show for The New Short Fiction Series in Los Angeles. She is a past participant of the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley and Lit Camp, a former prose editor of The Coachella Review and she has volunteered for Dzanc publications, The Rattling Wall, WriteGirl, 826LA and the The Whistling Fire.

She lives Huntington Beach, California (where she is also from) and her current project is Que Arte, a coming of age memoir about spirituality and mental illness.
